Mom Posts Image Of Tax Return On Facebook - Within 24 Hours It Goes Viral

Most Americans are super excited when they find out they'll be getting an IRS tax refund. In some cases, the money is already earmarked for large ticket items, such as expensive electronics or an all-out shopping spree. Our consumerist-driven society has taught us that it's okay to spend, spend, spend! It's really no wonder that so many Americans are knee-high in debt.
Yet, one single mom has shown the world that you can let your hard-earned money work for you, instead of against you. It's certainly not an easy task to raise kids on your own, and although Christina Knaack was probably tempted to use her tax return to shower her kids with expensive toys, she decided there was a much better gift she could give her children.
People from all over the world have been praising this thrifty mom for her actions. In fact, a photo of what she did with her tax return has now gone viral!
Christina Knaack is a single mom who works a minimum wage job in South Carolina. She's a loving mother of a 4-month-old and a 2-year-old. She supports her family on this income, and she does everything within her power to make sure that her kids needs are met.
The current minimum wage in South Carolina is $7.25. If we assume that she works full time, then Christina is likely taking home less than $1,000 per month after taxes and social security are taken out. Some of us pay that much in rent every month! How in the world is this mother able to get by on so little?
For starters, she doesn't spend her tax refund needlessly.
The 2017 federal poverty level for a 3-person household is currently $20,420, which means that Christina is "officially" considered poor. So what does a poverty-stricken mother spend her money on? Responsibility.
Sometimes it's not how much money you make that determines your wealth. Instead, it's how much you have after all the bills have been paid that really matters. Christina understands this concept, and she decided to use her money to make her "wealthy" for the rest of the year.
When Christina received a check for $5,600 from Uncle Sam, she didn't want poverty to get the best of her - or her kids! She posted a photo on her Facebook page, with a note explaining why she blew it all in one place.
It shows a receipt totaling $5,400. Although the receipt doesn't say what it's for, it's definitely payment in advance for something big!
Believe it or not, Christina used her tax money to pay her rent in full - all the way to the end of December! That means she won't have to worry about getting evicted if she can't come up with the monthly rent at any point during the year.
"I got back $5600 on my taxes. Instead of buying my kids the latest Jordans or fancy electronics I paid my rent for the YEAR. I'm a single mom and I do it all buy myself on a minimum wage job."
Christina went on to say that putting a roof over her kids head is what's important. She's certainly one smart cookie!
Christina's post has now gone viral, and she is amazed at all the positive messages she's received.
"My kids don't want for anything because my priorities are straight. And this also means I will have that extra 450 a month to do things with my kids."
Since Christina still had $200 leftover from her refund check, she decided to spend that money on her kids. Maybe next year this super mom will set aside a few tax refund dollars for herself. She totally deserves it!
Christina is truly leading by example. Little luxuries are nice, but sometimes it's more important to think of the future, rather than buy things you don't really need.
