For Courtney Hill and her husband Brian, life was like a dream. The beautiful couple met in the middle of a snowstorm in 2011, fell madly in love and married shortly after - it's the perfect fairytale story!
As if things couldn't get more perfect, they had a gorgeous baby girl named Reagan, a few years into their marriage. Now they truly were one happy family!
The Hills knew that they weren't done growing their family, so at the beginning of 2016 they started trying for another baby! But a month into trying, the two were concerned their efforts were for naught.
They knew they had to keep trying, but then something devastating happened....
Their marriage and Brian's life was cut far too short when he was killed in a trucking accident on February 2, 2016. Courtney's world came crashing down - her best friend, life partner and the father of her child was gone forever. It was her worst nightmare.
On the day of Brian's wake, Courtney had a strange feeling that something seriously off with her body. So, in the midst of the sadness and sorrow, she decided to take a pregnancy test.
To her surprise, it came back positive!
Courtney was able to grab her husband's hand one last time and tell him the incredible news. The funeral continued with a renewed sense of love - and since Brian was a proud Navy Veteran, who served his country by fighting in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, he was presented with full honors.
Despite the grief surrounding the day, his wake was just as perfect as their love story!

However, things took a dark turn just a few weeks later and Courtney wound up in the hospital, scared she was going to lose her unborn baby. Instead of bad test results, doctors came into her room and told her that her body was reacting poorly because she was carrying triplets. What a wonderful and unexpected surprise!
Everything was going smoothly with Courtney's pregnancy until 25 weeks in. Courtney received some terrible news when she went in for an ultrasound. The doctors informed her that one of the heartbeats was gone - the emotional rollercoaster Courtney had been on the past few months seemed to have yet another heartbreaking turn for her.
Courtney shared the news on the Facebook page she created for the triplets:
"It is with a heavy heart that I let you know that today at my 25-week appointment, Brady no longer had a heartbeat. My heart is hurting, but Miles and Harper are both doing fantastic. Thank you for the continued love and support."
Thankfully, the remainder of Courtney's pregnancy went off without any more major complications. She was able to welcome a healthy baby girl and boy, Miles and Harper, into the world on September 21, 2016.
Things may be crazy for Courtney over the next few months (or 18 years), but she told CBS Chicago that the thought of it doesn't bother her at all!
"I'm excited to have.... smiles that remind me of him."
Courtney knows that she's blessed to have two pieces of Brian to hold on to for the rest of her life!
