Students at John R. Rogers High School in Spokane, Washington have an amazing group of staff members to help make their day as productive and fun as possible. Not only are the teachers phenomenal, but the Education Support Professionals (ESP) dedicate their time and energy to helping the students as much as possible.
Janitors, secretaries, nurses and lunch staff all work diligently to help the Rogers High students, who reside in the poorest county in the state. Although they're looked at as "underdogs" from other teens in Washington, one section of the school's ESP, the lunch staff deemed the "Lunch Bunch," do their best to make each and every student feel loved and cherished - and it shows!
So, to reward the Lunch Bunch on National ESP Day, the dude. be nice organization and the Rogers High students decided to host a celebration in their honor.
The "Lunch Bunch," which is comprised of nine lunch ladies and two lunch "boys," puts forth all of their energy to serve over 1,400 students every single day. One member of the Lunch Bunch named Tami hasn't had a sick day in over 20 years - her's is the level of dedication demonstrated by the other members as well during each lunch period!
Lunch Bunch Lady Denise shared just how much she enjoys working in the Rogers High School lunchroom.
"We love each other. We're together all the time. We love the kids.... This is my family!"
Their group loves what they do and the students they serve. They know that their food is the only meal some of their students eat all day - so they strive to do it with a smile and an open heart! That's why the students and administration came together to give the Lunch Bunch the celebration of a lifetime.
Everyone wanted to show just how much they mean to the school!
It was a well-known fact around Rogers High that the Lunch Bunch always wanted to take a group trip to Las Vegas, so the Rogers students and dude. be nice decided to bring Vegas to the school!
They decorated their Lunch Bunch break room with casino-related items, bought them a brand new disco ball stereo system and hosted a massive Vegas-style pep rally in the auditorium with homemade signs, a red carpet and purple boas.
But the Lunch Bunch's surprise didn't end there!
The students led the excited group through the halls, which were lined with cheering teens and staff members, to the front of the school!
After running through a handmade Lunch Bunch banner, they were presented with a stretch limo! Where the limo was headed and what was planned for the rest of their night was enough to bring the Lunch Bunch, and the rest of the school, to tears....
Check out the big ending to the Lunch Bunch's surprise in the video below!
Their celebration shows that there are so many behind-the-scenes support members in the education, and they need to be recognized just as much! We hope the Lunch Bunch had an amazing time on their special night!
