Parenthood with all its craziness is still a blessing to be had; especially when one considers how many couples each year go through fertility issues that keep them from conceiving a child naturally. This story from Utah is about one such couple who in their quest to become parents ultimately received the shock of a lifetime!
Tyler and Ashley Gardner had tried for eight long years to have kids, but the results had been unsuccessful. Not letting the past get in the way of the future, the couple decided to finally seek medical help and pursue in vitro fertilization to increase their chances of getting pregnant.
There are many factors that determine the success rate of an IVF procedure, like age and health, and the best of chances still hover under 30%. For Tyler and Ashley though, it was a chance worth taking.
Even before finding out if the treatment would work in their favor or not, the couple was thankful to be in a position to afford the luxury of time in seeking IVF treatment, which does not come cheap!
The moment of truth came when two months later Ashley went in for an ultrasound to check whether the treatment had worked. What the fuzzy picture showed however was beyond anything she had ever expected.
The two eggs that were implanted in Ashley had both split and what the ultrasound now showed were four heartbeats of their soon to be quadruplets. By some estimates, the odds of this occurring are one in 70 million.
A friend captured Tyler and Ashley's reactions to the news while still in the doctor's room and the expression on their faces seems to suggest disbelief and relief all at once! It truly seemed like one of the best moments of their lives so far.
Two sets of identical twin girls, Indie, Esme, Scarlett and Evangeline, arrived in 2015 - changing Tyler and Ashley's world forever.
Since their girls' birth (who turned two-years old recently) the couple have started a blog, a YouTube channel, and a personal business to encourage and help other parents of multiples around the world.
More big news came their way when the cable network TLC signed them up for a parenting reality show called Rattled to be aired soon around the nation. Needless to say, their lives have been thrown into a complete different trajectory.
Here is a video of Tyler and Ashley on their new show Rattled!
To know that all of this started at that exact moment of seeing the very first ultrasound is quite special. The "Gardner quad squad" as Ashley calls themselves is truly a miracle family! We wish them much success as we follow them in their journey.
