There are some fortunate people in the world who are lucky enough to learn about faith at a young age. Maybe their parents taught them about a higher power when they were little, and their words stuck into adulthood.
Willie Nelson is one of those lucky people! When Willie was just a boy, he was taught about Jesus Christ - and it has surely paved the way for him in his 82 years thus far.
He wrote in his book:
"I was a believer as a kid, just as I am a believer as a man. I've never doubted the genius of Christ's moral message or the truth of the miracles He performed. I see His presence on earth and resurrection as perfect man as a moment that altered human history, guiding us in the direction of healing love."
It is something that Willie has never regretted learning, knowing, or even acknowledging. In fact, he tries to spread his love for God towards others who may not know Him yet.
Willie is devoted to God and gives all the credit for his successful music career to Him. Willie also acknowledges that God is the one who has provided him with everything he has and everything he is to this day.
He's totally aware that he could not have possibly provided everything for himself, and that God graciously granted him these talents and gifts that he has decided to try and share with the world.
Often times, Willie wonders if the songs he sings and writes are actually words that he himself made up - or if God is channeling His message through Willie.
"Am I just a channel chosen by the Holy Spirit to express these feelings?"
Willie is not afraid to tell the world that he feels God has given him more than what he thinks he deserves.
God has also given Willie the strength to maintain his busy schedule! Although Willie is 82 years old, he still performs more than 150 shows each year. In 2015, the beloved country music artist published an autobiography titled "It's A Long Story." In those pages he declared his love for Christ and devotion to his faith.
As if things weren't already clear, Willie isn't afraid to sing about the Lord during his shows! Willie is proud to be a believer in God and is just trying to spread God's word for others to hear.
Chances are, he has probably motivated lots of fans to learn more about God, if they were not familiar with him in the first place. If that's the case, then maybe God is trying to channel messages through Willie after all.
