Former Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty has shared with her fans the different personal moments in her battle with breast cancer. It's been two months since Shannen shared her news of remission with the public, and once again has everyone talking. Fans are thrilled to see how happy she looks and it's exciting to note that not just her smile has returned...
The actress has always had a flowing mane of thick dark locks. During her difficult medical journey, Shannen decided to be proactive and shaved off those gorgeous locks. Now that she's cancer-free, her latest photo shows herself and her husband, Kurt Iswarienko, with similar heads full of curly hair, giving fans a whole new reason to talk now that her signature locks are growing back. She even joked with fans about their matching look.
"I think my husband and I are morphing into each other."
The 46-year-old actress was on vacation with her hubby in Tulum, Mexico, at the time the photo was snapped, relaxing and enjoying time with each other. She announced in April that she was in remission with an emotionally infused social media post. Shannen's fans rejoiced along with her.
"What does remission mean? I heard that word and have no idea how to react. Good news? YES. Overwhelming. YES. Now more waiting."
Shannen wrote that while remission brings a sigh of relief for those with cancer, it also can be nerve-wracking. It could be next week, next month or next year, but the cancer frighteningly could return.
"As every single one of my fellow cancer family knows, the next five years is crucial. Reoccurrences happen all the time."
Fellow breast cancer survivors admire how stoic and positively uplifting Shannen has been on her medical journey. She's shared various milestones on social media, from undergoing treatments to simply needing a nap to recover. She's also shared images of herself with loved ones who have supported her throughout her journey. Since the beginning of her battle Shannen disclosed that her dog knew something was wrong with her health before she ever did.
Shannen has described her challenge fighting cancer as "a blessing" that has altered her life "in ways I can't even speak of." The burden of such a dark journey can be eased a bit by the grace of God, with prayer and supplication. Our prayers go out to Shannen as she continues her road to recovery, along with everyone who is engaged in their own battle with cancer.
