Woman Gobsmacked By Little Girl's Comment At Yard Sale. Without Missing A Beat, Takes Action

A busy weekend yard sale is not usually where one expects life-changing events to happen. Yet, sometimes life sneaks up on you at the most unexpected place.
When the anonymous proprietor of a yard sale witnessed a little girl eyeball a Pink Disney Princess TV set, she didn't think anything of it. But, the little girl's constant whispering to her mother had the yard sale owner intrigued.
So, the owner stepped in a bit closer to spy on the conversation. She was gobsmacked by the words that slipped out of that innocent little girl's mouth!
Raising kids is a tough job, and every parent hopes their children will grow up to be upstanding adults. However, this particular little lady was already upstanding in her own right. Instead of acting like a spoiled princess and asking mom to pay for the Pink Disney Princess TV, she did something entirely unexpected for someone her age.
The woman who ran the yard sale shared:
"The cutest little girl and her mom were at my yard sale today. I overheard the little girl very politely ask her mom if there was anything she could do to earn the money to buy the TV. She did not just ask if she could have it. She asked if she could earn the money herself. She was 6 years old. Her mom told her she could not afford it right now, then kissed her forehead."
The considerate and very understanding girl wasn't upset, and told her mommy that it was okay. She then grabbed her mom's hand, as if it reassure her that everything would be fine...
The yard sale owner noticed that the interaction between the mom and daughter was absolutely genuine, and so very precious. It's rare to see that these days, not just between parents and their kids, but between people in general.
"I watched them carefully pick out items they needed and count their money to the penny as they did. At one point they were picking out some dishes and the little girl said how pretty she thought the dishes were, how nice it will be not only having one cup and one bowl at their new place anymore, and...how lucky they were."
Obviously, something was going on. The proprietor felt it, and knew in her gut that this pair had probably been experiencing a very rough patch. Her heart turned to mush at the mere thought of what these two might have been going through.
When the mother tried to pay for her carefully chosen items, the owner wasn't having any of it. Instead, she quietly let the pair know that she would be giving them the items free of charge.
"Tears filled her eyes as she thanked me, told me how much it meant to her, and that I had no idea how much I was helping her right now. Then she asked, 'but why?' I said, 'I sense that you are going through something right now, and I don't need to know what that 'something' is. But you obviously have not let it deter you from being an amazing mom, and you are raising a wonderful, beautiful, joyful, polite, little girl.'"
That's when mom confided that she had recently fled an abusive situation. She only had enough time to quickly fill a duffel bag with a few belongings before she ran away with her daughter. Thankfully, the woman had saved just enough money for a small one-room apartment.
Even with their few meager possessions, mom still felt blessed to be alive, and lucky to be safe. That same grateful mindset has definitely rubbed off onto her daughter.
The owner's generosity didn't stop there. She handed the mother a couple of large garbage bags, and told her to fill it up with anything that she and her daughter could use. She also gave the tearful mom some pillows, blankets, a blow-up camping bed, and a box of food.
The mother seemed almost ashamed of her situation, but the kind stranger quickly reassured her that it was okay to accept help.
"'We all go through hard times. This is a season, and seasons pass. When this season passes for you, you can 'pay it forward' to someone else."
In her final act of generosity, the owner quietly asked mom if she could give her little girl the Disney Princess TV. Awww, I think we all saw that one coming!
Although the young mother and daughter probably thought they were the lucky ones that day, this yard sale lady begs to differ:
"What they probably don't realize, is that they blessed me far more than I blessed them."
This is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time! It's so good to know that there are many amazing people out there who won't hesitate to lend a helping hand. Would you have done the same?
