Everyone who listens to radio has at one point or another listened to or heard of Delilah. Known as "The Queen Of Sappy Love Songs," the radio host runs a syndicated show that reaches eight million listeners. People call in, and Delilah plays the songs they dedicate to their loved ones.
Last week, Delilah experienced a devastating tragedy. She revealed to fans over the weekend that something awful happened to one of her children. Delilah has 13 kids, 10 of whom are adopted.
Delilah revealed that her teenage son, Zachariah, passed away after taking his own life. She explained on Facebook that Zachariah had been receiving treatment and counseling for depression for some time.
Delilah, 58, is devastated by the loss. She wrote in a message to her fans:
"My heart is broken beyond repair and I can not fathom how to go on...but I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through."
The radio host explained that she will be taking time off from her hosting her show in order to grieve and to spend time with her family. She knows that when she returns she will somehow get by with the love of her fans. She concluded her message by writing:
"Please pray for my beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression."
Sadly, Zachariah isn't the first child that Delilah has lost. Her son Sammy passed away in 2012 after a battle with sickle-cell anemia. She adopted Sammy in 2010 from a refugee camp in West Africa.
Delilah launched her beloved radio program in 1996. Now nearly 170 stations broadcast her program - which means that there are a lot people out there praying for Delilah and her family.
