We've heard a cappella groups sing in the past, but nothing compares to the sheer beauty of this performance. The Brigham Young University (BYU) Vocal Point a cappella group came together with the school's men's choir for a rendition of "Nearer, My God, to Thee" that has spread across the Internet like crazy.
The two powerful groups are impressive alone, but when their talents merge, the result is incredible. The men's voices mesh in a way that we've never heard before...
Most people don't know that Vocal Point was created back in 1991 by Dave Boyce and Bob Ahlander. During a trip to colleges on the East Coast, Dave and Bob were introduced to the modern a cappella sound and realized that BYU didn't have anything like the groups they saw.
It was in that moment they knew the university could benefit from the beautiful harmony of their voices and the message of God's love. So they got to work creating a unique sound that would garner positive attention from their fellow students.
Within a decade of starting Vocal Point, the members released two successful albums and refined their vocal style and musical direction. They they came together for this breathtaking musical collaboration.
It's been more than 26 years since its creation and Vocal Point is as popular as ever. Not only do they have a wild amount of talent, but they have a message that inspires people all over the world.
