If a teacher's legacy is measured by the hearts and minds they touch, then some might say that Mr. Dawson Tahana Tamatea lived to be a hundred!
A teacher at the Palmerston North Boys' High School in the North Island, New Zealand, Mr. Dawson was actually just 55 years old when he passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, leaving behind a grieving family with a wife and three kids.
For those who are fans of soccer, you might have seen the New Zealand team players performing the haka before a start of an important game. In this case however, the occasion was much less festive but still a clear indication of brotherhood that had been created by a person who was so loved.
The students' stomping, thumping, and chanting in unison seems like a befitting salute to a teacher who clearly had so much more left to give!
