While most of us think of Whitney Houston when "I Will Always Love You" plays on the radio, the song was actually the brainchild of another famous songstress. Dolly Parton originally wrote "I Will Always Love You" in 1974 for her former business partner and music mentor, Porter Wagoner.
Instead of separating professionally with ill feelings towards one another, Dolly wanted to honor the business relationship they shared with kind words. Shortly after the song broke onto the music scene, it shot up to the top spot.
