Property Managers Discover Piles Of Socks And Coins Inside Washer

We all know that losing a sock is always a risk when you do a load of laundry. It seems as though socks often lose their mate and we're left with a drawer full of mismatched items. It's easy to assume these items get lost on the way to the washing machine or after being folded -- but the truth is something many of us have joked about before!
This important discovery was made by Cathy Hinz's husband while he was servicing a broken washing machine. He had no idea that he would stumble upon anything like this...
Cathy and her husband manage a manufactured home park in California -- this means they're used to fixing a variety of maintenance problems. However, something about one washing machine was just plain wonky. No matter what they did, the machine kept breaking down.
After being called out to service the same washing machine yet again, Cathy's husband decided to pry open the drainage compartment and really check things out. What he uncovered was astounding...
Cathy told Bored Panda what happened next:
"Today, my husband got tired of fooling with one of the washing machines that was just not working properly and decided to take it apart, starting with the bottom panel. To his shock, this is what he found...
"Socks, underwear, a credit card... and that is just what was in the bottom of the machine. When he removed the water pump that removes the water from the machine, he found about $7 in change.
Now, for those of you that swear, your machine eats your small things, and have been told by 'professionals' and others that this fable just is not true... Here is the proof!"
Years of missing socks, loose change and other valuable items slipped through the cracks and wound up stuck inside the machine. Cathy told Bored Panda that she and her husband couldn't believe their eyes at first:
"I don't know what to say! 25 years he has been doing this job, and for 25 years he has been working on appliances, including washers and dryers. But NEVER have we seen this!"
This sock-filled compartment is proof that the hungry "Sock Monster" exists! In addition to getting our sock pairs back in order, we should all check our washer and dryer for debris before they become a safety hazard.
