One of the most beloved women in America left a gaping hole when she passed away earlier this year. Less than two months after this wonderful matriarch left this earth, her birthday rolled around, posing a difficult time for her family.
On April 17, Barbara Bush slipped away surrounded by family at the age of 92 at her home in Houston, Texas. Her 93rd birthday would have been June 8.

Her life was full of love, outreach projects, mission work, and family. She adored her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, as well as her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was laid to rest by her daughter Robin who passed away at the age of three from leukemia in 1953. After 73 years of marriage, her husband mourned the loss of his incredible wife all over again on her birthday June 8.
George took to Twitter to express his emotions, albeit in a manly way. But one message rang through -- he misses her.
"Sending our gratitude and family love on this special day to all who are helping carry forward the selfless work of one Barbara Pierce Bush. She loved helping others and did so with a joyful heart. Knowing there are so many out there who share her passion puts joy in our hearts."
George's love for Barbara began when they were quite young. He wrote her love letters while serving in World War II before they were married, which can be found in a book the couple released titled George and Barbara Bush: A Great American Love Story.

He shared a fun photo on Twitter while he was in the hospital just seven days before Barbara's birthday. He was reading their book.
"Enjoying a great book and a wonderful walk down memory lane this morning. Yet another reminder of just how lucky I have been in life. Very proud of the author and co-author, too."
Even granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager took to social media in tribute of what would have been Barbara's 93rd birthday. She and her twin sister admired their grandparents and George and Barbara even spoke about their love at Jenna's wedding.
"Celebrating a life well lived with our dearest tonight. X MISS you so much Ganny"
Even though her loved ones left behind are mourning their loss and celebrating Barbara's life on her birthday, there is one thing that they cling to. While it may have been her 93rd birthday on earth, it's her first birthday rejoicing in heaven.
