Wife Looks Thru Husbands Wallet Suddenly Coming Across Phone Number Making Her Heart Drop

Spouses sometimes drift apart when life becomes crazy busy. Long hours logged at the office, kids' time-consuming activities and other obligations can drive a wedge in-between couples.
Nicole Johnson understands this all too well. She's a wife, mother and active blogger, and has admitted publicly that she and her husband are going through a rough patch.
He has changed jobs and is trying hard to make a good impression. Nicole has returned to the workforce, too, so they dance around each other in the kitchen in the mornings and promptly pass out exhausted in bed at night.
"We haven't had the easiest time lately. I've been very open about that. But I also want to share this--we are trying. We've talked. We've worked. We will keep working. Because it's work. It's kids. It's baggage. It's anger. It's love. It's all of the stuff that life is."
But when Nicole discovered a phone number in her husband's wallet, her heart flipped. The slip of paper was a bit worn, but there it was, staring back at her.
A million thoughts raced through her mind. But slowly, a smile crept across her face.
That's because the phone number was hers from years ago. The paper was what she had given her hubby the night they first met.
He had clung to that slip of paper for 16 years, tucked safely in his wallet and carried with him everywhere he went. It reminded him of their youthful adventures, of a fresh relationship, of how she's the rock in his life as they grow old together.
She couldn't believe he had kept it all these years. To Nicole, that one small sheet of paper meant he cherished their past and looked forward to their future.
"The first time I found it, I knew that no matter how far we've moved away from the first days of new love, how far we journeyed from our beginnings, how far from romance, date nights, us--this is still there. This piece of who we were and where we started remains with him. He carries us around wherever he goes."
So when Nicole and her husband find themselves struggling to connect, arguing and just not seeing eye to eye, she remembers what she found in his wallet. This piece of paper set the wheels in motion that led them to where they are now, with a scary mortgage, kids under foot and a mature love.
“And when it gets hard, like really hard–the sort where it seems easier to walk away than to stay–look for those things in your beginning. For us, this old receipt tape, worn and battered, is ours. It won’t do the work. It won’t keep our marriage going. But it’s a reminder and it’s a help.”
Nicole shared her story on her Facebook page and people couldn't help but comment. And wouldn't you know it, her hubby also posted on her page, sweetly telling her, "I'll always need you."
