Builder Approaches Old Man At McDonald's As Wife Secretly Records Gut-Wrenching Interaction That Follows

We've all been there -- scrambling for a bit of change to pay for our purchase. It can be embarrassing when we come up short and sometimes, when the money just isn't in the bank, it can be gut-wrenching.
A senior citizen at McDonald's in Australia was digging through his pockets trying to rummage up enough money to buy a bite to eat. But he fell short.
Dave Love had popped into that same McDonald's to grab a cup of coffee and noticed the older man scrambling for change. Dave's significant other, Melanie Langley, noticed Dave's sincere interest in the man's well being and began secretly filming their exchange.
After glancing over at the senior a few times, Dave stepped up to the register where the senior was standing and chivalrously bought his breakfast. At first, the gentleman politely refused, then gratefully obliged Dave's generosity.
"There's still some nice people here."
But Dave wasn't done yet. As they step away from the counter, Dave hands the man a $20 bill.
The senior refuses, again blown away by Dave's compassion. Dave insists he take it, telling him that it's for his next coffee.
The senior couldn't believe it. He couldn't express his gratitude to Dave enough.
"Thank you very much ... you're a gentleman, thank you."
When Dave discovered Melanie had been recording him, he wasn't terribly thrilled, because he didn't help out for any accolades. A modest man, Melanie noted that "Your true character is revealed when nobody's watching."
Melanie asked Dave what he had done while sneakily recording his answer. He nonchalantly replied, "I'm helping the old fella out."
"He's down on his 20 bucks. He's standing there with a whole heap of change. He's a pensioner and he's old, so I paid for his meal and I gave him $20. It is what it is, honey, it's life."
Life can be tough, but thanks to people like Dave who are willing to step in and help out, those rough times can be a bit easier.
