Do you still remember all of the words to "Hopelessly Devoted" and "Grease Lightning?" Well, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John sure do!
Forty years after the release of Grease, the stars of the movie reunited for a special screening at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California. They spoke about how much the megahit movie impacted the industry as a whole, what they're doing now and touched on if they keep in touch.
It's good to see they're just as smitten by each other as they were four decades ago...
Beauty school dropout Frenchy (played by Didi Conn), T-Bird Doody (Barry Pearl), and director Randal Kleiser also joined Danny Zukko (John Travolta) and Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) at the anniversary celebration. With a proud grin on his face, John told PEOPLE Grease effects people to this day.
"Grease changed people's lives emotionally. It inspired people to become performers, it marked people falling in love - I know it by the letters I get and encounters I have."
The movie was one of his most iconic roles and propelled him to a level of stardom rarely seen in Hollywood. While the fame and fortune that John received by playing Danny Zuko was life-changing, the impact it had on the industry was inspiring.
Agreeing with John, Olivia told PEOPLE that Grease was a revolutionary film in its day. Not only was their performance legendary, but it also sparked a life-long connection with her castmates - especially John.
"We did something life-changing, making that film. [At the premiere] you got the feeling from the energy that something was happening. It was a huge response. I feel grateful to be a part of that and to have worked with him. We've stayed friends ever since."
John admitted that Olivia was there as a shoulder for him to cry on when things were tough and to celebrate with on the happy days.
"When you share that kind of meteoric success - and nothing has been able to exceed it - you share a bond. I've been through her having a child, getting divorced, losing her sister. She's been through my getting married, having children. It's wonderful and full of shared memories."
It's clear by their beautiful reunion here that they'll be friends for the rest of their lives. There's no way you can stop the Pink Ladies and T Birds!
