Paramedics Learn Man's Final Wish En Route To Hospital

Rescue workers are constantly faced with sorrowful and frightening situations in their line of work. They've seen things that would make the rest of us shudder.
Kate Hanafy and Hanna Hoswell are medical personnel with Queensland Ambulance Service who befriended a regular patient named Ron McCartney. His health had been declining for some time and his family feared the end was near.
The ambulance was summoned for help transporting him to the hospital for what would be the very last time, everyone believed. While en route to the hospital, Kate and Hanna asked Ron an interesting question, but it's what they did next that has brought the internet to tears.
Because of his medical condition, Ron hadn't eaten anything for more than two days. He also needed assistance feeding himself.
So Hanna and Kate stunned everyone when they pulled into a McDonald's drive-thru. They knew Ron's time on earth was quickly drawing to a close, so they decided to treat him to exactly what he wanted as his time slipped away.
They quickly discovered that the ambulance couldn't fit in the drive-thru, so they parked and one of the ladies hustled into the eatery to grab Ron's ice cream. His wife Sharon couldn't believe that the ambulance crew had done this for her ailing husband.
"It put a smile on his face, he got a couple of pretty girls conned again. Got what he wanted. It was typical Ron. He’ll never say no to a caramel sundae.”
Their daughter Danielle thanked the paramedics for showing such unprecedented kindness to her father. It brought tears to her eyes.
"Dad enjoyed this so much and was the last thing he was able to eat by himself."
The Queensland Ambulance Service noted on its Facebook page that they were "left humbled and tinged with sadness after receiving the message of gratitude."
How wonderfully perceptive and incredibly kind these two paramedics were in treating a patient to one last outing before passing away. It's unparalleled generosity such as this that makes our world a brighter place.
