Kids have a way of surprising us when it comes to their interests. Sometimes it's the smallest of things they witness that sparks a passion inside of them they just have to purse.
That was the case for 8-year-old Nejae Graham-Henries when she accompanied her mom and older brother to the Junior Barber Academy in North Philadelphia to learn about barber training school. Her mother had taken them there in the hopes that her son would find an interest in becoming a barber. But what mom discovered instead was that it wasn't her son who was interested in the program but her then 7-year-old daughter Nejae who wanted to enroll.
After the orientation Najae told her mom Jamie Graham,
Mom, he doesn't want to do it. I'll give it a go.
Jamie states her daughter Najae was excited about the program, looking it up online every chance she got. Wanting to support her daughters new found passion she contacted the Junior Barber Academy to learn whether or not her daughter could attend. Michael Boone is the owner and when he heard about little Najae he couldn't turn her away. Soon afterward Najae became the youngest trainee in the program.
Fast forward a short time later and Najae passed barber training school before she even started second grade. Now her story has gone viral, turning heads when people see the young 8-year-old holding a pair of clippers in her hand.
