The National Anthem has always been a staple of American football, but recently it has gotten a lot of negative media attention for reasons that have fans enraged. While the nation may be politically divided, a recent photo taken at an NFL game proves that when it comes to standing together, nothing can get in the way.

When the New Orleans Saints faced off against the New Your Giants this past Sunday, photographer Michael DeMocker captured an image that has since gone viral. When NOLA.com posted it to their Facebook page, fans from across the country quickly united as one, moved by the powerful message the photo displayed.
In the picture, a Saints fan is seen helping a disabled Giants faithful stand for the National Anthem. While it's rare to see rivals at a game interact in a friendly way, Americans across the country were moved by this patriotic show of support.
According to NOLA.com, the Giants fan in question was Geordie Brower, on a trip to New York to visit his mother and to see his hometown team face off against the Giants. As the anthem began, Brower noticed an elderly gentleman in front of him struggling to get up on his feet. Although the stranger was rooting for the opposing team, Brower didn't think twice when he leaned forward to help the man stand.
While we may not all be the biggest fans of football, comments quickly began pouring in from fellow Americans as they recognized the true meaning of this special moment.
For just one moment, two complete strangers united as one - sharing their mutual respect for the National Anthem and everything it stands for.
While it may be more common for fights to erupt between opposing fans, it's nice to see examples of them interacting in a respectful and loving manner - regardless of which team they support.
If you, like many fellow Americans, are fed up with all the controversy surrounding our beloved "Star Spangled Banner," let this serve as a beautiful reminder that true patriots still exist.
