Cop Cradles Baby In Police Station For Hrs Making Splash In Headlines When Truth About Mom Gets Out
by Marilyn Caylor 11/29/2018
Police officers often go above and beyond the call of duty when they wear all the different hats that aren't necessarily a part of the job description. Not only are they law enforcement officers and local heroes who do their best to keep the neighborhood safe, but cops are also family counselors, community educators, first aid providers, peacemakers, and youth mentors.
The number of different roles they play don't stop there, but there is one hat that Officer Lofgran of the West Jordan Police Department probably never expected to be wearing. After the very patient cop found himself holding onto a baby for several hours at the police station, the truth finally kicked in. Since mom hadn't come back to retrieve her daughter, he was suddenly tasked with one of the most important roles of his life - caring for the little girl!

Record clerks at the Utah police department were keeping a watchful eye on the station's newly christened babysistter, who had been handling his new duties with the utmost of care. After watching the cop cuddle and coo with the baby girl, staff decided to snap a photo to show everyone why an officer's job is never done. Not that Officer Lofgran minded the wait - there was actually something much more important going on with mom.
The baby's mom was actually quite busy, but she hadn't forgotten about her precious daughter. In fact, it was just the opposite - the young mother was trying to save her from harm! Mom didn't want to be one of those tragic stories that made headlines for all the wrong reasons, so she went to the police station to file a very important report.

Domestic violence is one of those taboo topics that's not discussed very often, but we certainly see the consequences of it when it suddenly makes headlines across the nation.
"Our records clerks caught Officer Lofgran during a call detail the other day. A young mother came in with her small children to file a domestic violence report. Officer a Lofgran helped watch over the children while this mother got the help she needed for that day. He spent hours on this call. Thank you for your service! #westjordanpolice #wecare #backtheblue"
Cops are exposed to these situations every single day, but it's how they handle it that can help the person feel like a victim, or a survivor.

Sgt. Alex Earelli told CTV News that the police force is happy because Officer Lofgran represents all the good values that the department wants to portray. He went on to say that his officers always conduct themselves in a kind and supportive manner, but their actions don't get broadcast every single time.
"I wouldn't say it's every single day, but it's often where officers do step in to try and help out with providing any type of resource so the parents or the victims can get assistance."
Cops are always receiving on the job training, but in this case, Officer Lofgran totally nailed it. That baby looks so safe and secure in his arms, and mom must have felt just as safe knowing that her little girl would be okay. Thankfully, the person hugging the baby wasn't just a cop, he was first and foremost a human being who actually cared.
