Keeping a marriage strong takes a lot of hard work, patience, and commitment. And when you're in the music industry where you are always in the limelight, keeping it together can be even more challenging.
The same is true for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood who are both well-known country singers. Despite being celebrities, they were able to keep their love as strong as ever since their marriage in 2005. Everyone who attended the 52nd Annual Country Music Association Awards can attest to that as they witnessed Garth's heartwarming dedication to his wife.
It was a special Wednesday night for Garth as he debuted his new song titled "Stronger than Me". It was the first time he played the song in front of an audience and it was also the fist time his wife would hear it too. As he was playing his special song, Trisha was in the front row, listening intently to every word.
The lyrics had the crowd swooning, especially Trisha.
I know I always thought I had to have the answer
Be her strength and take the lead
But when it comes to everything that really matters
She's stronger than me
Those lines, according to Trisha, were honest. It's one of the things they talk about in real life and that's what touched her heart deeply during the performance. As she was listening to her husband, you could clearly see how hard she was trying to hold back her tears and how nervous she felt.
"I'm sure people think, 'Oh, he probably sang it for her,' I have not heard this thing. I swear, I really don't know what it's gonna be. I trust him, so I'm sure it's gonna be wonderful. But I'm just nervous."
Just after the show, Trisha shared how she's already requested for her husband to play the exact same song at home so that she can let everything out and cry, the way she would have wanted to upon first hearing it at the CMA's.
Garth shared the exact same emotions. He admitted that he had a hard time keeping his emotions in check during rehearsals and after the second line, he just started crying. The performance, however, went really well and Garth was able to deliver his piece perfectly and without any hitch.
Garth Brooks earned his fame and popularity for the unique way he integrates pieces of rock and roll into country music. Trisha Yearwood, on the other hand, is well-known for singing about being strong and confident. The two met in 1987 and became longtime friends before getting married.
