Cop Accepts Challenge From High School Band Member
FaithTap Staff 12/5/2018
Cops spend a lot of time looking after people and making sure they are safe. That's one good reason why people often think that they're always serious and don't have time to have fun, unwind, and just enjoy.
The truth, however, is that cops are just like normal people. And when they are given the opportunity to do what they love, they take it just like anyone else.
"I was nervous, it had been a long time since I'd played so I didn't want to let them down and [I was] hoping my skills were gonna hold up."
Les' performance was all due to a dare. When he was patrolling the football game, there were a couple of band members who were taking their equipment into the stands. One of them was complaining about how heavy the equipment was and how Les should carry it up for them.
He agreed and the band member dared him to come up in the stands with the rest of them so that they can show him how to play.
Surprisingly, Les played really well and he obviously had a lot of fun in what he did. He was such a big hit to both the students of Arkansas High School as well as their parents. You wouldn't believe that it had been 23 since he last played the drums! He never missed a beat and he was so tuned in to the piece they're playing. The band members next to him couldn't take their eyes off of the man in uniform as he played the drums.
He earned a lot of big smiles from his performance. One good reason is that people don't often find a man in uniform coming up there on stage and playing the drums really well in front of a huge crowd. Les' performance really showed that police officers are human beings, too. They have talent and they have a lot to give others.
Les was invited to perform next season and that's something we'll all surely look forward to.
