Cop Lets Mom Out Of Ticket But Then Shows Up At Her Work

When Megan Nierman Ozkaraca was stopped for a traffic violation after dropping her daughter off at daycare, she knew she was in a heap of trouble. Not only was she a self-professed lead foot, but the registration tags on her license plate had expired a couple of months prior. As a struggling single mom who gets no child support from her ex, paying for the tags on her car took a back seat to more important things in life, like raising her daughter!
The gorgeous blonde had no excuses, and she immediately confessed to both speeding, and driving with expired tags. Megan asked if the male police officer could please give her a break, but of course he did what all cops are supposed to do, and he followed the letter of the law. However, the speeding ticket he issued came with an enticing offer - he'd let her off the hook if she emailed him within a week. It was only when he unexpectedly showed up to her place of employment to hand her something that Megan was most shocked!
Sgt. Evan Love of Hendricks County Sheriff's Department did have a heart, and with a last name like his, how could he not live up to being a super nice guy? After asking where Megan worked, she told him that she had a really good job at Ulta Beauty, but things were still financially tough for her. On her Facebook page, Megan explained:
"He went to his car and came back with a ticket and an explanation: he could technically impound my car, but if I could take care of the plates within a week, I could email him and he would destroy the ticket. When my boyfriend found out about it he snuck money into my wallet to take care of it-anyone that knows me knows I don't like to ask for help??"
After paying the renewal fee on her license plates, Megan did exactly as Sgt. Love asked, and emailed him to say the issue had been taken care of. That should have been the end of the story, but the officer wasn't about to let the single mom off the hook so easy!

Sgt. Love responded to Megan's email as soon as she wrote him, but even as he was composing his thoughts, he was already planning to surprise her at work.
"OK great! I know it was tough for you to do but I appreciate you taking care of it. I was worried someone else would stop you and tow your car before you were able to get it fixed. I really did feel bad writing you the ticket because I didn't want it to make things worse for you, so I'm grateful you got it renewed. I hope things turn around for you, it sounded like you have a ton of things on your plate right now. Good luck to you and try to stay positive! Take care, Evan."
When the Sgt. walked into the Ulta Beauty salon where Megan works, she didn't recognize him. He wasn't in uniform, and with his wife and kids in tow, she initially confused him for a client. It wasn't until the cop spoke that it dawned on her who he really was!
Megan admits to getting a little bit defensive with cops, based on how she's seen them treat others in the past. Having one show up at work unannounced was more than just a little bit alarming! But, she had nothing to worry about this time. Sgt. Love and his wife had only stopped by to give Megan a Christmas card, along with something extra to help her through the holidays.
"Touched by their kindness, I teared up, hugged them and thanked them all and went back to servicing my guest with tears running down my face. After my guest left, I went to my car to open the card alone. It had a Target gift card in it for $300. To say it made my day is an understatement. Not only because of the help it will give me and my daughter, but because it showed me that kindness can come from anywhere at anytime from the most unlikely place."
According to Megan, Sgt. Love is "by far one of the kindest most real I've ever encountered." Even though she was clearly breaking the law, he still treated her like a true human being by showing her kindness and respect. That in itself is the best Christmas gift anyone could ever receive!
