Culinary Queen Ina Garten Shares Big News About Her Marriage

When "The Barefoot Contessa" whips up fantastic food on her popular cooking show, she throws in a dash of love and a pinch of joy. Her fans love it when Ina Garten's hubby Jeffrey pops by her segment to see what's cooking.
The Food Network star doesn't hold back when it comes to expressing how much she loves cooking, food and her hubby -- but not necessarily in that order. Their love is sweeter than her famous chocolate desserts!
To recognize their 50th anniversary, Ina decided to pay tribute to their lengthy relationship by celebrating every single day of their anniversary week. For the first day, she shared the sweetest throwback photo of the pair as newlyweds.
The black-and-white photo shows them sporting 1960s fashion and grinning from ear to ear, completely in love. They strolled arm in arm without a care in the world.
"Instead of celebrating our 50th Anniversary (yikes!) just on the day (this coming Saturday), Jeffrey and I decided to celebrate it all week long! So I’m starting with a photograph of Jeffrey and me leaving our wedding for our honeymoon, tennis racquets in hand. It’s been an amazing 50 years!!!"
Ina, who is 70, used the hashtag #loveofmylife in her wedding anniversary posts. The pair met while Ina was visiting her older brother at Dartmouth University in New Hampshire.
She admits to feeling sparks immediately, she told TODAY Food. She was just a teen at the time.
"I met Jeffrey when I was 15, and I have to say, I just knew he was the one. He's kind, he's smart, he's funny, and he takes very good care of me. It's wonderful."
The amazing cook would never have left her job as a White House policy adviser to pursue her passion for cooking if it wasn't for Jeffrey. In fact, he encouraged Ina to purchase a specialty foods store in the Hamptons when it was put up for sale; interestingly enough, it was called The Barefoot Contessa.
After dedicating 20 years to the shop, she sold it and turned her focus to penning cookbooks. The next thing she knew, she was hosting her own Food Network program and was on the fast track to becoming a culinary star.
Because of their professional obligations, the lovebirds spend the workweek apart. She stays in East Hampton, New York, while Jeffrey resides in New Haven, Connecticut, while serving as a dean at Yale University's School of Management.
But they also work hard to connect during the day. Then they rekindle their relationship on the weekends.
Their connection is one we should all aspire to achieve!
