They say that when something is taken away from you, you'll receive something better. And when you do good, good things will also happen to you.
A long-time dishwasher in Ruffino's Restaurant in Lafayette Louisiana is one good example of that. With his hard work and dedication to give his best to his family, Kea Senegal earned a special gift he'll remember for the rest of his life.
Kea had been working hard to save up and buy his family a new car. He has two children with his wife - a 4-year-old and a 4-month-old. With two kids, saving up was surely hard. Despite the situation, Kea was able to reach his goal and get a car for his family. Unfortunately though, the vehicle was stolen soon after.
Hearing the news and understanding how difficult it was for Kea and his family, every single one of Kea's co-workers pitched in just to get him a replacement vehicle his family could use. It took a total of 3 days for them to raise $2,500 - general manager, Chris Muffoletto, told WFMY News 2.
Apart from his co-workers, another group of people helped the employees at Ruffino's Restaurant to reach their goal. When the employees at Don's Wholesale found out what they were doing, they volunteered to match the funds. With that, Kea got his surprise earlier than expected.
On the day of the surprise, Chris Muffoletto, the general manager, came out of the restaurant with Kea. He walked him slowly to the parking lot where Kea's co-workers were waiting for him. On Chris' cue, the employees took a step to the sides to reveal Kea's replacement car. It was a 2015 Chevy Malibu.
Upon realizing what the surprise was all about, Kea wasn't able to do anything except put his head in his hands and give his co-workers and manager some hugs. He was clearly moved at the generosity and effort of everyone that he ran out of words to say.
To Chris, it wasn't really just a surprise but it was more of an inspiring moment. He was so proud of his staff, their big hearts, and the way they treat each other as a family.
In the video, you'll hear him say:
"The whole staff got together and we got you a surprise - it's just a small surprise. Listen we're family and you've been here a long time, worked your butt off, we love you."
Be sure to grab the tissues before enjoying this priceless moment - you're going to need them.
