Grandmothers are known to be caring and extra loving. They feed you with really delicious meals and pamper you with comfort and security. They do everything to make you feel better if they know that you're sick or going through something difficult.
A 72-year old grandmother from Las Vegas Nevada, however, does so much more than that for her 6 great-grandchildren. A military widow, Ella does a lot to raise the kids, maintain their home, and take care of her health on her own.
Ella has no one to turn to when it comes to looking after the children and her best friend knows exactly what she's going through. Although Alicestine Miller lives in a different state, she cares about Ella and wants the best for her.
As a way to help her, Alice asked the Fox 5 Surprise Squad to help out Ella. Since she needed massive help, she knew that the group would be the best people for the job.
And true enough, when the Squad knocked on the grandmother's front door, she immediately got emotional. It looked like a moment of relief and happiness for Ella.
As they were talking, she expressed how dear her great-grandchildren are to her. She considers them as both a blessing and a source of happiness. Everything she's doing for them is a sacrifice worth doing.
The Squad completely understood what she meant. And as a way to recognize Ella's hard work and dedication to provide the best for the kids, they did everything they could to make their Christmas a really good one.
They turned Ella's home into one that reflects the spirit of Christmas. They had to bring in handymen and plumbers to transform the place. They even bought new pieces of furniture, beds, carpets, and other appliances. They bought a couple of Christmas decorations, too.
All the changes happened while Ella bonded with Alice. The Squad brought the two friends together so that they can have some fun and catch up with their lives.
When Ella returned to her home, it was completely different and she was left speechless by what she saw. It looked far from the old, worn-out home she used to share with the kids. Complete with the Christmas decorations, it was all warm and comfortable there.
Under the Christmas tree, the Squad tucked a $500 gift card for each of the children. Their rent has been fully paid for a year, too.
Everything that the Surprise Squad did for Grandma Ella was truly touching!
