Most kids will ask for a dog at some point in their lives and naturally, their parents will say no. At a young age, the kids more than likely will have a hard time keeping up with the responsibility of owning one.
Halee Fuqua understood this when her father told her to wait until she graduates from college before owning a dog. Instead of getting mad at her parents, she volunteered at the Humane Society of Stilwater. Little did she know that she'd meet her adorable best friend there.
Since her first day, she connected with this Mountain Cur and Plott Hound mix named Rambo. When she would come to visit the center, she'd just sit and play with him. She was able to really connect with the dog.
One day, Halee found out that Rambo had been adopted through social media. As reported by ABC News, she was deeply hurt and broken, knowing that the dog would soon be away from her.
Little did she know that her father pulled off a really clever surprise. 3 weeks before, Lance Fuqua, together with his wife, adopted Rambo. They coordinated with the Humane Society to keep things secret from their daughter.
Admittedly, the Humane Society doesn't normally do that kind of thing. However, since Hallee is a volunteer and they knew how much she loved the dog, they told a little white lie so she would think that Rambo was still up for adoption.
On a Sunday night, the family surprised Hallee. When she opened the door, she saw Rambo at the front of their house, wearing really cute reindeer horns. When Rambo saw Halee, he instantly ran towards her, wagging his tail. He was clearly happy to see her.
Hallee, on the other hand, got emotional. You can see in her eyes that she was really happy upon realizing what her parents had done and that Rambo was now hers.
Dogs that are put up for adoption don't always get a happy ending. Most of them that fail to find a new home end up getting put down which is just sad.
This is one good reason to consider adopting a dog instead of buying one from breeders. It gives hope to dogs and lessens the number of canines getting put down just because they can't find a home. And if you do consider adoption, make sure that the dog is fit to your lifestyle, family, and personality. It's one way to make sure that you're able to provide the right home for the dog.
Hallee and her parents are truly inspirational in what they did for Rambo.
