Colors and flavors are often used to describe moods and feelings. If someone is "vanilla" it means they're a boring, plain Jane who doesn't ever do anything exciting. When a person is down in the dumps, they're said to be feeling "blue."
However, one woman from Vancouver, Canada, brought a new color into the mix and admitted to actually feeling a little bit on the "beige" side. We're always being told to avoid eating beige colored foods like bread and pasta because they're too processed, but in this case, Mauree thought it was her appearance that was in need of a healthy makeover.
Mauree traveled all the way from the other side of the continent, and from a different country, to visit the master of midlife makeovers, Christopher Hopkins. Middle-aged women will stop at nothing to sit in The Makeover Guy's chair, where they hope to finally burst through their drab cocoon and emerge into the world as a stunning natural beauty.
Christopher sets up shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and although it seems like the least likeliest of places to bring out the Hollywood glam, there's certainly nothing vanilla or beige about his magical touch. After having seen Christopher's work on his popular YouTube channel, Mauree knew that he was the right person to transform her beige "before" into a bright new "after."
Once you get a glimpse of Mauree, you can see why she described herself to The Makeover Guy as being rather "beige." Her wheat-colored bobbed hair matched her complexion, giving the appearance that there was no separation between the two. Christopher tactfully agreed that the beige theme had to go, and went to work giving Mauree more depth and definition in her hair color.
As for her haircut, the layered bob that Mauree came in with was beautifully styled, but it was the entirely wrong shape for her pear-shaped face. Christopher gave her a wedge cut in order to demonstrate how the perfect cut can give anyone an instant facelift.
Mauree said that she had total trust in Christopher's artistic ability, so she was more than willing to let him sculpt her into a gorgeous new woman. Neutral face makeup, dramatic eyes and soft lips were all that he really needed bring out her natural good looks.
As the video cuts over from Mauree's before look to her after, the transformation is so unbelievable that it doesn't even look like the same woman. She's now sporting an above-the-chin haircut, but the most noticeable difference is the 15 years that were taken off her face! Even Mauree couldn't believe it, and said that she "feels better than great" about her incredible midlife do-over!
The incredible "after" shot is why Mauree loves her "I feel better than great" makeover.
