Starting a family brings so many changes in the lives of the parents and the rest of the family. It means so much more than just having to adjust to a routine that consists of sleepless nights, seemingly inconsolable cries, confusing moods, frequent diaper changes, and early mornings. Parenthood also means learning so much along the way, being rewarded by adorable coos, heart melting smiles, and getting to witness one precious moment after another. The rewarding feeling of raising children is unlike any other. This is why after the new parents learn the ropes and get the hang of multitasking and working around their baby's schedule, talks of baby number two start becoming part of daily conversation.
While some parents anticipate a bit of sibling rivalry as they make plans to grow the family, most moms and dads are able to prepare their firstborn for the arrival of his or her sibling by making them part of each step such as letting him or her talk to the baby in the mom's tummy, encouraging them to help with setting up the nursery, and overall just teaching him or her to help take care of the baby.
This type of training goes a long way in helping create a peaceful environment at home and a good relationship between siblings. Take this adorable young lady who seems to have the whole big sister thing down pat. Her role isn't limited to just playing with the baby or fetching what her mom or dad needs. In fact, the little blonde baby-sitter knows how to properly hold her baby sister, Annabelle and put her to sleep.
By carefully observing her sister's response, Evelynn also learned that holding Annabelle's tiny body close to hers and having her hands support her baby sister's head are contributing factors in successfully putting her baby sister to sleep. Imagine the delight their parents feel everytime they witness such moments between the two sisters. It just proves that it is never too late or too early to teach older siblings how to properly bond with the younger ones and help take care of them.
You can tell from the affectionate way that Evelynn gently smells and kisses her little sister Annabelle that she'll be a responsible role model - doting, protective and dependable. How proud their parents must be!
