Music is something to be thankful for. When feeling down, some of us turn to music to lift our spirits. When we feel troubled, a powerful song may be all we need to heal our soul from all the negativity and worries.
And this is what transpired one Saturday night in Tennessee, when Olivia Kilburn's grandmother was admitted at the Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. With a beautiful song sung by a very talented woman, Olivia's grandmother was blessed with the powerful healing of music.
Mikea Braden, a nurse tech at the hospital, normally does her rounds while humming songs under her breath. It is in one of these occasions that Olivia's grandfather, who was at the hospital to take care of his wife, heard the nurse tech and thought that maybe, she could really sing a song such as the iconic "Amazing Grace". So he spoke to the nurse and asked if she wouldn't mind singing for them.
Wanting to make her patients feel better, Mikea ended up giving an impromptu performance of the iconic song while Olivia took footage of the amazing and heartwarming event. Mikea was actually a really good singer! Her voice was beautiful and she hit the right emotions necessary to give life and meaning to the song.
The captured footage showed that everyone in the room was in awe. Everyone closed their eyes and listened to the beautiful voice that took over the room. The song was much more than a song. It was a moment of healing and Olivia felt so blessed to have the opportunity to share this moment with her family, especially her Grandmother, Patsy, who a patient at the hospital.
Olivia was so inspired that she wanted the rest of the world to feel what they felt at that heartfelt moment. So she posted the video on her Facebook account and shared the nurse tech's amazing song online. It was positively received by the online community, a lot of them commending the way Mikea showed just how much she was willing to go to make her patients feel better. She certainly a blessing for the family.
Mikea is certainly a talented woman and by sharing her talent to her patients, she only showed that you can express your compassion for others not just by physically taking care of their needs but also by giving them hope and inspiration through your talent and your eagerness to help them.
Fortunately, Olivia's Grandmother is now out of the hospital and doing well. And I bet Mikea's beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace" was somehow instrumental to her recovery.
