Family is something that makes up a big part of who we are. When we are with them we feel that we belong and that we are complete. It is such a blessing to know that we have these people around us?our family that will always be there for us when we need love and support.
Unfortunately, not all people get the chance to know who their family is. And one of these people is Sarah Ray, a 30-year-old bartender working at the House of Blues in Cleveland. She knew she had a sister who shared the same father with her but she did not know how and where to find her, until that fateful night in December 2018.
Sarah was on her weekend shift as a bartender in the House of Blues when a woman came up to the bar and asked to pay with her card. As Sarah keyed the customer’s name into the computer, she found that the customer’s name was “Theresa Ulintz”.
When she saw this, her heart seemed to have skipped a beat and she felt like everything in her body fall to the floor. It was not a common name at all and certainly a name that she knew all too well. Sarah collected her thoughts and found the nerve to confirm what she had in mind.
When Theresa came back to the bar, Sarah asked her if her father was named Richard to which she said “yes”. And when she said that she was Sarah, Theresa confirmed what Sarah had figured out a moment ago: they were sisters! It was such an amazing surprise, one that both women definitely did not expect to get that December night at a bar.
Theresa Ulintz, a 36-year-old Nano Brew employee, was pleasantly shocked when she met Sarah. Her name was all too familiar. When she asked about her father and eventually told her who she was, she was stunned! She was her long lost sister whom she had never met in three decades! Who knew that they would cross paths in a bar and that they actually lived less than a couple of miles from each other.
After that fateful night at the bar the sisters took each opportunity to be together. Both of them each have two children and they found time to spend time together with them, too. The kids absolutely loved being together! The women and their kids celebrated their first Christmas as a family and it was a really fun time! It was one of the many firsts that these two families plan on having in the future.
Sarah and Theresa may have been apart from each other for decades but still, the bond between sisters is a strong connection that they both shared. The two women had tears in their eyes as they recalled their reunion and for both of them, it was a moment that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. It was the moment that a missing part of their being was found again. Fate stepped in that night and they can only be grateful that they were at the right place at the right time.
