In an ideal household spouses share responsibilities. Whether it be cleaning up the baby, cooking dinner, or washing the clothes, partners should divide the household chores and help one another get things done. But that’s not always feasible because of other priorities outside of the family.
One husband was getting ready for a night of movies and snacks. However, as he was about to relax, he had a powerful realization about his family, especially his wife who he considers an amazing and wonderful woman.
Adele Barbaro is a young mother who works from home. She runs a blog titled "The Real Mumma." There, she shares recipes and writes about parenting and the ups and downs of motherhood. Sometimes she features stories about her babies or her husband.
She also posts to her Facebook page. One day, though, fans were surprised to see that one of her Facebook posts wasn’t written by Adele. Instead, it was written by her husband.
It starts with him feeling proud of getting his children and wife to bed early. He was about to grab some Nutella and watch a movie, but then he looked around and realized something.
His wife, who had been taking care of their sick daughter, barely had enough sleep for the past three nights. He went on to say that, when he came home from work, he saw a clean home, ate a delicious meal, and had freshly washed clothes for the next few days.
His wife, The Real Mumma, did almost everything around the house, plus her freelance writing projects, without a single complaint. She was so tired, and also sick, that she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. It was supposed to just be a nap, with Adele saying that she needed to prepare for her husband’s lunch tomorrow and clean the kitchen.
That made her husband pause. Here he was, thinking about chilling and watching movies when his wife’s last thoughts before passing out were cleaning the house and making him lunch. He felt guilty that his wife’s first priority was always their family and that she almost never got enough rest because of it.
So, he decided to share his realizations on Facebook and to help his wife with the household chores. He wrote:
"So instead, I've written this post to tell you that behind all the blog posts, jokes, recommendations, reviews and the giveaways, there is a real person and she is an amazing woman whom I adore. Now I'm off to clean that kitchen, and then look around this house to see what I can do to make her day a little easier tomorrow."
It certainly surprised and touched Adele when she woke up to find her husband's inspiring post, which quickly went viral!
