Taking up sports is a great hobby. It's a good form of exercise, it promotes a healthy lifestyle, and it's a chance to meet new people and make new friends. That's why it's important to support children's sports teams. Having a sports team can help a child gain better social skills and help them maintain a more active lifestyle.
A children's basketball team in Canada were supposed to have a huddle in the middle of the game, but it turned instead into a hug fest, with the team members hugging each other tightly. The audience were pleasantly surprised and found the entire thing hilarious and sweet.
There are many benefits to hugging. According to various researches and studies, children who receive more hugs and nurturing touches score higher on development assessments. The physical stimulation makes their brain healthier and more powerful.
Of course, not every kind of touch is good. Only the nurturing kind, like gentle hugging, can positively affect children's brain. Although children shouldn't be forced to hug anyone they don't want to, it's important for parents to show their love and support by giving their children regular hugs.
In this case the basketball team in Ontario, Canada reminded their audience how important a hug can be. They were in the middle of the game when their coach called for a huddle. Instead of a short team meeting however, the children gathered around and hugged each other tightly.
The people in the gym saw the hug fest and thought it was extremely sweet. Some of them laughed. In fact, even the coach couldn't help but laugh when he saw the entire moment unfold before him. There's no doubt the children were confused as to what they were supposed to do in a huddle, but they certainly reminded everyone that during a very stressful game it's important to pause and give everyone a hug.
Their coach approached them to clarify, but he couldn't contain himself either. He laughed and talked to the children, but they were having none of it. They thought it was more important to hug it out rather than do what their coach wanted them to do.
The story and a video of the short but adorable moment was featured by an American TV station and has now amassed more than 300,000 views. People have left comments on the Facebook page, saying that what the children did was a reminder that love transcends ethnicity and age, and that such a moment will hopefully inspire both children and grown ups to spread love, not hate.
In a time of need, a hug can be a very powerful thing, so don't be afraid to give someone you love a hug today!
