Heroic deeds don't always have to be about taking drastic steps or measures to save the world. Sometimes, it's as simple as taking time out of your day to help someone in need even though you don't have to. It's about giving help when you can in whatever way possible.
One bus driver braved the storm to help a mother find her baby's shoes. The driver thought it would be impossible, but she actually found the pair of shoes. It was a miracle!
Vickie Foster is a driver employed by the Milwaukee County Transit System and she is used to driving all kinds of weather conditions weather it's rain, snow or shine. When the weather was extremely snowy, and there was actually a snowstorm, the bus driver noticed someone walking along the road.
It was easy to spot the woman carrying a bundle in her arms because the roads were a spotless white. When Vickie drew close, she saw that the woman was carrying her baby. She asked the woman if she needed a ride, but the woman said that she was looking for her baby's shoes.
In an interview with CBS News, Vickie told herself:
"So, in my mind, I'm like, 'Baby's shoe? In this weather? You'll never find that.'"
But Vickie said that she would keep an eye out and went on her way. As she drove along Vickie spotted something on the side of the road. It seemed out of place in the middle of the winter wonderland and when she pulled up beside it she couldn't believe her eyes. They were baby shoes!
So Vickie jumped out into the snow and picked up the pair. She then called out to the mother and ran towards her and the mother was overjoyed to have received Vickie's help. But Vickie's kind deed didn't just stop there. She invited the mother to come aboard with her child to get warm. And the mother couldn't have been more thankful.
So, in the end, Vickie did end up giving the mother and her child a ride, albeit a short one. Not only that, she helped the mother find her baby's shoes! Vickie didn't think her actions would garner praise online. The incident happened in January, but it was only a few months after that her kindness caught on camera went viral online.
The woman Vickie helped had written to MCTS. The letter thanked Vickie for her kindness. It read:
"She truly went the extra mile. You never know when a small act of kindness will make a big difference in someone’s life."
It goes to show that even a small act of kindness will be appreciated.
