Kojo Anim is a 42-year-old comedian who joined the Britain's Got Talent auditions. As he walks onstage smiling, judge Alesha Dixon is obviously surprised and delighted to see him. She explains that she has known Kojo for many many years. She then invites Kojo to tell the other judges about himself. Kojo introduces himself as a stand-up comedian and says his career as a comedian covers twenty years.
"I'm a stand up comedian and been doing comedy for twenty years and I've spent most of those twenty years encouraging young comedians and helping big name comedians and opening up for them."
Anim explains a bit about his passion and his journey. Kojo now mentions his fiancée Tiffany Jade and their son Roman. "My new fiancee... we've got a little boy called Roman and he is here as well, and she said that it was about time that I started thinking about myself and my son." Simon Cowell informs Kojo that he is given three minutes mic time.
The first part of Kojo's set is about being a new dad and his childhood. The second part was about trying to withdraw the little cash that he had from a bank, and the last part was about expensive cab rides. At the end of the set, Kojo receives a standing ovation from the audience and the judges which reduces him to tears.
Judge Amanda Holden weighed in first by saying, "Yes, I would pay money to see this man. Congratulations." "I’ve always respected you. My respect level for you has gone way up there my friend. And let’s see how far you can take it now," Judge Alesha Dixon encouraged. David Williams said, “You made everyone laugh, you’ve got all bases covered as a comedian, you are brilliantly likeable, you’ve got fantastic observational routines. I think you did yourself proud today.”
As Simon Cowell began his evaluation, he told Kojo that he was amazed at how the audience reacted and how he reacted to the audience. Then Simon said, “But I’m going to be honest with you Kojo, I don’t really like comedians on this show." Kojo's face reveals him trying to hide his disappointment when, to everybody's surprise, Simon continues, "But I love you," and reaches over to hit the Golden Buzzer.
Kojo, stunned and overcome with emotion, falls to the floor as the golden confetti falls around him. Simon tells him, "This is the break you've been waiting for. Enjoy this." As you watch below, we think you will enjoy it too!
