The highly acclaimed a cappella group Pentatonix releases the absolute best holiday albums. Their beautiful harmonies, fun and funky beat boxes, and creative videos always pep us up.
Just in time for the holidays this year is their incredibly lively version of “What Christmas Means to Me.” This song has been covered by a slew of artists and dates back to the legendary Stevie Wonder who recorded it in 1967.
Every artist puts their own spin on this song, including Jessica Simpson, En Vogue, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and the boy band Hanson. But Pentatonix’s version is so upbeat that you will put it on replay.
The song is featured on their album “Christmas is Here!” The playful and colorful video bops back and forth between the singers as they beat box and sing solos, and the backgrounds resemble festive wrapping paper.
Of course, their exceptional multi-part harmony is showcased all throughout this song. It’s a toe-tapping, finger snapping type of a tune that will stick in your head after you first hear it.
The release of this song on Dec. 14 is part of Pentatonix’s fun way to usher in the holidays. They’re celebrating the 12 Days of Pentatonix Christmas and “What Christmas Means to Me” fell on Day 2.
They noted in the write-up below the video how much they love the song. They hope that everyone else will love it as much as they do.
“We hope this song puts you in the Christmas spirit like it does for us!”
If their smiling faces, smashing harmony and sprightly video isn’t enough to put you in the holiday spirit, the meaningful lyrics just might do the trick. Maybe you can relate?
“Candles burning low, lots of mistletoe. Lots of snow and ice everywhere we go. Choirs singing carols right outside my door. All these things and more (All these things and more) Now that’s what Christmas means to me, my love (That’s what Christmas means to me, my love). I see your smiling face like I never seen before. Even though I love you madly, it seems I love you more. The little cards you give me will touch my heart for sure. That’s what Christmas means to me.”
If you love any of Pentatonix’s songs, not to mention their wonderful holiday hits, you’ll have to listen to this one. It’s amazing!
