Secret Camera Records Target Cashier, His Actions Toward Elderly Woman Go Viral
Cailyn Finkel 3/9/2017
When Sarah Owen Bigler stopped in at her local Target, she was hoping it would be a quick trip. Everyone knows it's easy to get sucked in by the neat isles and flashy sale items!
However, Sarah managed to pick up her items in a jiffy but then something dreaded happened - she got stuck in a long line.
When Sarah was finished shopping ready to checkout, she thought she had picked the right line, since there was only one person in front of her. But it seemed to take even longer than the lines swamped with customers!
Then the cashier did something that shocked her....

Sarah was behind an older woman who was purchasing every single item her cart in separate transactions, and she was slowly counting out her coins.
At first, mom Sarah was a bit annoyed at having to wait so long, as she explained on her Facebook page:
"Part of me, the part that had a long day at work, the part of me who had a 1.5-year-old having a melt down in the cart.... was frustrated with this woman and the inconvenience she had placed on me."
Frustration tends to lend itself to other unpleasant emotions, so it's no surprise that Sarah was easily irritated.

However, she started to notice how patient and polite the cashier named Ishmael was towards the woman. Ishmael was in no way "inconvenienced" by her slowness, and even went out of his way to help count the change for her!
"Never once did this employee huff, gruff or roll his eyes. He was nothing but patient and kind."
He also went out of his way to find a reusable bag for the woman after she asked if she had enough money leftover. And, of course, he repackaged all of the items the senior had purchased into the new bag.
Patience is a virtue that some of us seemed to have lost. But, Sarah changed her tune when she looked at her daughter, Eloise.
Eloise watched with fascination as the Target cashier patiently helped the old woman.
"She was standing next to the woman, watching the employee count the change. I realized I hadn't been inconvenienced at all. That my daughter was instead witnessing kindness and patience and being taught this valuable lesson by a complete stranger."
Sarah also noted that she needed a refresher on this lesson as well. What they learned standing there in line is something that Sarah says she could have never taught them. Patience is something that has to be experienced.
Watch as Ishmael and Sarah meet up once again to share their story.
Ishmael's kindness and patience towards the elderly woman teaches us something more than great customer service.
One day we may live long enough to become that "little old lady" or gentle old man. We should be so lucky to have have someone like Ishmael on our side and who understands that the world doesn't always move at such a fast pace.
