When US Marine Corps Corporal Caleb Earwood met Maggie in high school, he never imagined that they would end up together. But over the years their close friendship blossomed into an amazing relationship and Caleb found himself on one knee proposing to the love of his life.
Their engagement felt like the blink of an eye - soon it was time to say "I do."
While Maggie and Caleb were steadfast about not seeing each other before the ceremony, they both wanted to do one thing together before walking down the aisle. They wanted to pray!
So their photographer, Dwayne Schmidt, wrangled the pair and brought them together. He placed the groom along the staircase and hid the bride behind a wall - then Dwayne grabbed his camera.
He knew this was a moment they would want to remember forever!
Maggie told TODAY she sensed her future-husband was nervous, so she grabbed his hand and they started to pray.
"When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous. It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God."
The image that Dwayne was able to capture was one of the most powerful images of his decades-long photography career.
Caleb told TODAY why this moment was so important to both of them:
"We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn't want to take a step without it being in God's will. I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me and the amazing family I was marrying into."
Minutes after praying, the couple were joined in Holy matrimony! The rest of the day was like a dream and the their marriage was off to a perfect start.
While most young couples nowadays don't put as much as an emphasis on God during their wedding, Caleb and Maggie knew that He was supposed to be present!
