Couple's Speechless When Rescue Dog Gives Birth To 'Baby Cows'

Animal shelters are always looking for people who are willing to give their dogs a happy place to sleep, play, and just chill out until they find a perfect forever home. Caring for a happy pet is an incredibly gratifying experience, which is probably why many foster homes are a revolving door of super cuddly animals!
Katie and John Black have fostered over 20 dogs since 2009, and they've learned over the years that even a friendly pooch can come with their own baggage, just like humans. But in the case of the couple's most recent foster animal, her baggage was quite literal - she was pregnant!
The couple knew that the gorgeous golden retriever was carrying a litter of pups when they agreed to care for her. But no one, not even the doggy mama herself, was prepared for what happened when the puppies finally popped out into the world.
Rosie was surrendered to the animal shelter when she was pregnant, and there was no information about who the dad was. However, when she finally gave birth, everyone was flabbergasted at what had been growing inside of her belly. Even poor mom looked bewildered!
That's because instead of beautiful golden-furred puppies, Rosie suddenly found herself surrounded by a herd of small farm animals. On the rescue shelter's Instagram page, foster mom Katie said:
"Not quite the puppy pile we were expecting - but we will gladly take 4 baby cows."
If mama was hoping to snuggle with a few golden mini-mes, she was in for a rude awakening - all four pups had white fur with black spots! They obviously favored their mysterious father in the looks department.
A very confused Rosie probably felt as if she were suddenly a foster parent herself. If she was on a daytime TV talk show, this doggy would be demanding a DNA test to prove that she was actually the real baby mama!
However, it only took one look at their heart-shaped spots for this lucky mom to realize that she had infused her DNA right into her babies' fur.
Katie, on the other hand, was a bit more playful in her response to the surprise black and white bundles:
"We were expecting some golden looking ones but now we have some adorable baby farm animals instead."
To add a bit of extra hilarity to the situation, the foster couple gave the cow-puppies cheeky farm inspired names: Daisy, Betsy, Clarabelle, and Moo, the latter being the only boy cow in the bunch.
Katie and John will be taking care of both Rosie and her new herd until she's done nursing. Thankfully, none of the adorable little chubsters have left cow pies all over the place, or developed a hankering for bales of hay just yet!
Unfortunately, this proud mama is keeping the secret identify of the baby daddy to herself, which means the mystery of their Holstein heritage may forever go unsolved. But in the meantime, they are growing up to be the cutest cow-puppies on the planet. I could look at these photos all day - wow!
