Staff Left Speechless After Woman Hands Dementia Patient A Baby

When Shannon Gray Blair's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, she didn't exactly get the response she was expecting from one of her co-workers. Usually when someone's upset about the declining health of a loved one, people tend to be very compassionate towards them.
But, Shannon's workmate Sandy Cambron didn't tip-toe around her delicate emotions, and instead boldly asked her to help out on a pet project. Shannon soon discovered that Sandy was planning on doing something for her that went beyond just mere words.
She was immediately overwhelmed by the gesture. You'll be overwhelmed too once you find out just how far people are willing to go to extend their love out into the world.
After Sandy found out that her own mother-in-law, Pearl, was suffering from dementia, she decided to do something very special for all the patients at the facility. On her GoFundMe page, Sandy said:
"When my mother-in-law (Pearl) became sick with Alzheimer's, my husband and I gave her and all the other women patients in her facility baby dolls and the men puppy dogs. Their response was amazing."
As soon as Sandy discovered that Shannon's mother was also sick with the same disease, she rounded up all the babies and puppies she could find and enlisted Shannon's help in making a special Valentine's Day delivery.
On her Facebook page, Shannon wanted everyone to know just how caught up she was in the emotional roller coaster she experienced on Valentine's Day with her good friend Sandy:
"I can promise you that no matter what you got for Valentine's Day, mine was way bigger & better than anything you could ever imagine. A few weeks ago I told you about my dear friend & co-worker Sandy that gave my mom & her roommate babies. Today she delivered 28 babies & 4 puppies to mom's entire unit. I was honored when she asked me to help."
The babies and puppies in question weren't actually real, but to those who are suffering with this devastating illness, they're as real as it gets. When a person's memories go by the wayside, they are literally living from one moment to the next. These precious companions can provide immediate comfort by helping these dear people feel both loved and needed in the here and now.
Precious little babies weren't the only thing being "delivered" that day. The men got adorable little lap doggies to pet and play with! A very grateful Shannon had only words of absolute gratitude for her friend Sandy:
"I have no words for what I experienced today. I'm amazed by her passion for those affected by dementia/Alzheimer's. I'm also amazed at how much she loves me. Thank you Sandy for making such a difference & sharing your beautiful heart with so many people today. It's a day I will never forget."
It's a day that no one else will forget either, especially not the lucky folks who were on the receiving end of Shannon and Sandy's kind hearts. These two women prove that angels truly do walk among us.
