What would you do if you saw a giant bubble forming under your yard? If you’re James Callender, you would grab a poking stick and do your best to release whatever is trapped under the grass!
He spotted a huge bubble forming in his yard following a torrential downpour and immediately went to investigate. James had no idea if it was water, a pile of snakes, or some sort of noxious gas – but he wanted to get to the bottom of things!
Thankfully, someone had a camera running the whole time and captured the interesting phenomenon. He had no idea what was on the other side of his grass, but he was about to find out!
According to The Daily Mail UK, lawn bubbles generally form after a heavy rainfall. The overwhelming amount of water gets trapped under the first layer of grass and can’t sink into the ground properly.
That’s exactly what James realized and he knew that he had to release the pressure that the water was creating if he wanted his grass to survive. So, with a big stick in hand and what seemed like the entire neighborhood watching, James carefully poked holes along the rim of the bubble!
Even after poking more than a dozen holes in the bubble, nothing was coming out! So James grabbed his poking stick once more and tore a hole in the side of the lawn bubble.
In an instant, the water began to pour out of the bubble! The water poured for several minutes and everyone watching was astounded by this experience.
James decided to step on the mound to help the process go even faster. What happens next is quite surprising. Most people cannot believe this happened.
This was something he had never seen and he acted in the nick of time to salvage his yard from any potential damage! What a crazy scientific phenomenon!
