An ordinary trip to the zoo turned into a day to remember as soon as this family approached the orangutan enclosure. Mom had just given birth weeks before and decided to bring her newborn along, but wrapped the infant carefully in a sling.
She had no idea that one especially curious orangutan was keeping a close eye on her and her baby. Now footage of their adorable interaction is gaining attention online.
By the way this sweet orangutan interacts with the baby, we understand what all of the fuss is about! It's simply adorable how inquisitive it is and how badly it wants a peek at the baby.
Even though they're big, orange-colored primates, orangutans are considered to be one of the smartest animals on the planet. Not only do they share 97 percent of the same DNA as humans, but they have also shown to have incredible human-like characteristics.
Some orangutans have been spotted washing their faces with washcloths. Others, like Rocky, have learned to talk like human beings. This one simply wants to see what sweet baby is hiding in Mom's sling.
Unfortunately, their similar DNA makeup also makes them susceptible to human diseases like tuberculosis and hepatitis B. The Inverse website also explains that they are prone to developing heart disease in their later years, just like people!
These human-like traits are also the reason why they can understand the difference between grown adults and tiny babies. The moment Mom walked near the glass, the orangutan perked up and walked over to the enclosure.
It was clear she sensed that there was something special about this visitor. Sure enough, Mom revealed her tiny baby and the orangutan was smitten! It just can't get enough!
